My name is Michelle, and I am a fourth year doctoral student at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology.  I am conducting research on the relationships between new mothers with disordered eating and their infants.  Participation in this study includes completion of a short questionnaire and a face-to-face interview.  The total anticipated time for the interview is one hour.  Any information obtained from this study will remain confidential and all responses will remain anonymous.

A participant would be eligible for my study if she meets the following criteria:

1)    Participant is self-identified as having symptoms of disordered eating within one year prior to becoming pregnant.

2)    Participant is between the ages of 25 and 35 years old.

3)    Participant is a first-time mother.

4)    Participant’s baby is between the ages of six- and eighteen- months old.

5)    Participant delivered a full-term baby, and the participant took her baby home with her following the participant’s discharge from a hospital or birthing center.

6)    Participant is married and is in a heterosexual relationship.

7)    Participant is willing to have the interview audiotaped for research purposes.
